  • Project HUGE: Adding Caffeine For Health And Performance Benefits

Sorry for being late to the party on this one. Re: the overdose of B vitamins in supplement bars et al: Excess B vitamins are almost always excreted through the urine. They don't "build up" or become toxic. Depending on your diet/metabolism/excercise regime, you may need more or less of them, and ... read more »

  • Subversion - Cleanup Failed To Process The Following Paths

Posted on Sep 2, 2008 at 3:09 AM

Gah, sorry I'm late to the party on this post. Those looking for a solid introduction to SVN would do well to read this (online) book: http://svnbook.red-bean.com/en/1.4/svn.basic.html (I've linked the "so you're new to SVN" chapter, but the whole thing's there) I've found this book to be an ex... read more »

  • Chase Bank - Worst And Seemingly Most Insecure Telephone Interface Ever!

Posted on Jul 21, 2008 at 9:56 PM

Ugh, banks are some of the worst offenders, but that's by far and away the most inexcusable security mistake I've ever seen. I'm yet to find a bank whose online banking site conforms to web standards - even remotely, or works consistently (or at all) in different major browsers. If they can't buil... read more »

  • Not Commenting And The Tipping Point Of Poor Programming

Posted on Jun 9, 2008 at 3:24 AM

To my mind, the issue isn't "don't write comments to make up for bad code", it's "write good code, write good comments". Poorly written comments are as bad as poorly written code - sometimes worse, because every comment tends to be read, where code doesn't. Self-documenting code is a myth, in my o... read more »

  • Indiana Jones And The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull Starring Harrison Ford

Posted on Jun 9, 2008 at 3:03 AM

See I thought the movie was actually pretty good - much better than I expected. Except the bits that had anything at all to do with aliens. Aliens do not belong in an Indiana Jones movie. Each Indy movie had a couple of things that were a little (or a lot) over the top - Rick mentioned a lot ... read more »

  • Bigger, Stronger, Faster - The Side Effects Of Being American

Posted on Jun 2, 2008 at 10:52 PM

I'm generally in the same camp as Ben - I wouldn't ever feel comfortable using steroids, or even some kind of testosterone type supplement to improve my appearance or recreational performance (obviously they have medical applications - if a steroid dose prevents me from suffocating or something, I'm... read more »

  • June 1st 2008 - National Regular Expression Day! (Post A Comment, Win A Prize)

Posted on May 28, 2008 at 10:48 PM

Here in Australia we actually get the 2nd of June off (as some unimportant incidental public holiday - unrelated to technical advances anyways), and since we've got this policy of moving our public holidays to the Monday any time one falls on a weekend, it's just like I get a day off in honour of I.... read more »

I believe in love. I believe in compassion. I believe in human rights. I believe that we can afford to give more of these gifts to the world around us because it costs us nothing to be decent and kind and understanding. And, I want you to know that when you land on this site, you are accepted for who you are, no matter how you identify, what truths you live, or whatever kind of goofy shit makes you feel alive! Rock on with your bad self!
