@Ben, If I have anything to say about it, we use an auto-generated integer key (Identity key in SQL Server). Simple and to the point, and easy to type when doing development and testing. I dislike using UUIDs (or GUIDs as I call them) for database keys. They are too long, too unwieldy, and take up ... read more »

I really appreciate your honesty. When I read (mostly read, sometimes just skimmed) that book, much went over my head, too. But rarely do you see a developer admit as much in a public forum.
