Ben & Ryan Podcast - Episode 7: How ColdFusion Is Made With Charvi Dhoot

It was such a pleasure to have Charvi Dhoot and Brian Sappey on the podcast this week. We got a really nice glimpse into the way in which ColdFusion is managed as a product.

The Adobe team has a very challenging task. Not only do they have to work on features that they believe (and have been told) will add the most value for their customers, they have to implement these features using the "ColdFusion mindset". That is, they have to provide the effortless ergonomics that ColdFusion developers have come to expect; but, they have to do so in a way that optionally exposes the full flexibility of the underlying Java APIs.

This is not an easy job; and, requires the Adobe engineers to not only be Java experts but also have a deep understanding of "conceptual compression" and a desire to limit the leakiness of the higher-level CFML abstractions.

I believe in love. I believe in compassion. I believe in human rights. I believe that we can afford to give more of these gifts to the world around us because it costs us nothing to be decent and kind and understanding. And, I want you to know that when you land on this site, you are accepted for who you are, no matter how you identify, what truths you live, or whatever kind of goofy shit makes you feel alive! Rock on with your bad self!
