Project HUGE : Week 3 / First Cycle Completed

Just finished my third week and my first cycle of Project HUGE. I have been very pleased with my overall performance and dedication to the project. Before I get into it, here are my weights for the last week:

Day Three : Back / Triceps

Dead Lift

255 x 10
285 x 8
305 x 6
320 x 4 (hard... stopped before I hurt myself)

Lateral Pull Down

105 x 12
120 x 10
135 x 8
150 x 7-8

Narrow Grip Cable Row

105 x 12
120 x 10
135 x 8
150 x 7-8

EZ Bar Skull Crushers

50 x 12
60 x 10
70 x 8
80 x 8-9

Cable Push Downs

40 x 12
50 x 10
60 x 5
60 x 4

I was pretty pleased with this last week. I was so excited about the 315 dead lift last week that I tried to pump it up to 320. I only got four reps, which was sweet ass, but I stopped before I hurt myself. I felt my form getting sloppy and ego is no help when you are too injured to work out at all.

My lat pull down and cable rows were up in strength slightly, but more than anything, I just felt more comfortable and confident with the movement. While I failed fast on the cable push downs, I couldn't even do them last week at all due to shoulder pain, so the fact that I went 4 sets with out problems is totally sweet.

I have also dropped a bit of weight, which is nice. However, the gym scale, I am told, is not very consistent, but I think it is trending towards me losing weight. I have some weight to lose so this is cool.

Ok, so with week 3 done, it's time to start another 3-week cycle. That means different exercises. I am going to keep the same intensities (set / rep scheme) and just stick with variation for the time being. I will work on that today and post the new schedule later.

Anyway, it's all very exciting. This is probably the most consistently that I have worked out in like two years.

Jeremy,

Thanks for the link. Those things are pretty cool. I have seen them at a few gyms. Bow Flex just came out with a similar type of dumbbell, but it is waaay expensive. For now, though, I am just gonna stick to the basic barbells and machines. I will keep you updated.

I believe in love. I believe in compassion. I believe in human rights. I believe that we can afford to give more of these gifts to the world around us because it costs us nothing to be decent and kind and understanding. And, I want you to know that when you land on this site, you are accepted for who you are, no matter how you identify, what truths you live, or whatever kind of goofy shit makes you feel alive! Rock on with your bad self!
