Our Deepest Fear Is Not That We Are Inadequate
I was watching the movie Akeelah And The Bee this weekend. It was a pretty good movie and who doesn't like Laurence Fishburne and the very sexy Angela Bassett? During it, Akeelah read a most excellent quote that I thought I would share here:
Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?
Actually, who are you not to be?
Very good stuff.

I also just finished watching Akeelah and the Bee. I'm a sucker for spelling bee movies. When I heard the quote the first time, I was wishing I had written it down. The second time I wrote down the first line and did a web search. You can find the whole quote at http://www.worldprayers.org/frameit.cgi?/archive/prayers/meditations/ourdeepestfearisnot.html
Powerful!
Yeah, who doesn't love a good movie and an inspirational quote.... last night I was listening to Al Pachino's speech from Any Given Sunday. I will post that up later - It is FANTASTIC!
Angela is uber sexy and I'm always happy to see her and Laurence together. Akeelah is a great movie, I havent seen an inspirational film like this in years...
Agreed. Angela IS uber sexy! I am a sucker for her stuff from Strange Days to Waiting to Exhale to How Stella Got Her Groove Back. She can do no wrong. Laurence is also an outstanding actor. The way he talks, you just get mesmerized.
this quote was also in the movie Coach Carter. Not the whole thing but the just of it.
Also a quality movie :) Gotta love the Sammy Jackson.
HA! Ben, you just had to name off all of Angela's movies!! Now I have to pop in Strange Days (I love her in that movie, fierce!) and maybe some Stella (um...kinky personified). Thanks, I had things to do today too! :D

Moni,
Yeah, she is awesome that way :) She is SO fierce in Strange Days. Excellent movie. Now that I think of it, I don't own that one... I'll have to remedy that :)
Awesome blog site on her too! I will have to read through it.
Thanks, I'm glad you like the blog!! Angela is a pretty busy lady lately especially with the twins!
O and Strange Days has got to be in the DVD collection. Its funny how when some films first release they arent recieved well but they eventually become a classic.
this is marinne williamson...nelson mandela quoted her in his inagural speech... script writers didnt right it for coach carter ...
this is neither the full quote or the actual quote from the movie: just so you're aware
@Janevolturi,
Would you mind posting the full quote? I would be interested, thanks.
"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us.' We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There's nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we're liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others."
