New York ColdFusion User Group A Success
On January 17th, Clark Valberg and I kicked off the first New York ColdFusion User Group (NYCFUG) of 2008. Our speaker was Adam Lehman of Adobe (featured in the photo below) who came to talk about ColdFusion 8 and the Adobe platform.

I was very nervous that things wouldn't run smoothly, but I think it ended up being a hugely successful meeting. We got a great crowd to show up; and, once the presentation was over, it was awesome to see how many people stuck around to talk to Adam Lehman and to socialize with each other. For those of you who participated in the NYCFUG meeting, we are always looking for feedback, so please contact me with any comments or suggestions you might have on how to make things even better.
Also, we really want to get a community feeling going for the group; as such, we would love to get a collection of member bios up on the members section of the NYCFUG site. If you would be interested in representing the New York ColdFusion scene, please send me some of the following information:
- Name
- Blog / Site url
- Company
- Title
- Biography
- Head Shot
Send to ben at bennadel.com.
We're still trying to iron out exactly how the meetings will run; but, rest assured that we are going to be really following an agenda in which we start at 6:30 PM and end at a consistent time (for those of you concerned about getting back to your families). As you might notice in the photos below, our meetings also have free pizza and sodas courtesy of our sponsors. We're also working on fleshing out the web site and making it more dynamic.

Dmitriy
Congrats dude! That's awesome
@Dmitriy,
Thanks a lot man. And thanks for coming (and bringing co-workers!). See you next month.
@Boyan,
Thanks a lot. Maybe one day we can compete you guys up North :)
I had a blast at the meeting, can't wait to come back. It looks like I wasn't ready for that pic. I'm giving the most pathetic thumbs up. I'll be sure to hit you guys up when I'm in NYC again.
@Adam,
It was a pleasure having you. And, sorry about the picture. I had one where you had the total rock-star expression.... but I didn't want to set the bar too high for future speakers ;)
Now I have the evidence to prove I was at the meeting! :) Great photos Ben! You and Clark have done a great job. I just can't stop looking at the NYCFUG site design.
Now with Peter Bell back in town he should be showing up as well. The NYCFUG will only get better and better. Already looking forward to next month's meeting! Again congratulations and many thanks!
@Javi,
Just glad to finally have you there.
