The Darjeeling Limited Starring Owen Wilson, Adrien Brody, And Jason Schwartzman

Last night, I went to see the Darjeeling Limited starring Owen Wilson, Adrien Brody, and Jason Schwartzman. It was, without a doubt, a visually stunning movie. The vibrant colors, esoteric music selection, cinematography, and scenery came together in a joyous union; it was like watching the photographs of a master cameraman being strung together in a seamless slide show.

Such is to be expected of Wes Anderson's films. If you have seen other films of his, such as Rushmore, The Royal Tenenbaums, and The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, you will know that the visual element of his movies tends to overpower and play almost a more important role that the story line itself. Or at least, that's how I experience them. His story lines, while clever and clearly heartfelt, tend to require a bit more analysis than my caveman brain is used to applying.

But, don't get me wrong; The Darjeeling Limited is enjoyable at all levels, not just on that of the visual. The casting was flawless. Owen Wilson's quirky and humorous style, Jason Schwartzman's dry, cynical delivery, and Adrien Brody's unique acting style complement each other in a way that can only occur naturally. The kind of chemistry they had on screen simply cannot be scripted.

The story line is also well done, but the movie moves along at a pace that is not for everyone. I would say that if you don't like Wes Anderson's other movies, you're not going to like this one.

I really enjoyed the Royal Tenenbaums. But it was one of those movies that I didn't really get into until it was almost over, and even then I was kind of like, "huh?". It takes a while to sink in.

The Life Aquatic - that one I turned off before it was even half way over. I will definately rent The Darjeeling Limited when it comes out though.

Looks good. Another one I enjoyed like that was I <3 Huckabees, with Jason Schwartzman. Probably preferred that to Royal Tenenbaums and the Life Aquatic, although the style was very similar.

@Max,

I liked the Life Aquatic, but again, you just have to be in a certain state of mind to like these types of movies; certainly, they are not the type that are enjoyable all the time (IMO). Of course, I love just about anything with Bill Murray in it - the man can do no wrong.

Anyone see Lost in Translation? Another slow, but good film; classic Murray.

Sorry, got side tracked on Lost In Translation there; I have to say that I like Lost in Translation more than Wes Anderson's films, but again, Bill Murray rocks.

I believe in love. I believe in compassion. I believe in human rights. I believe that we can afford to give more of these gifts to the world around us because it costs us nothing to be decent and kind and understanding. And, I want you to know that when you land on this site, you are accepted for who you are, no matter how you identify, what truths you live, or whatever kind of goofy shit makes you feel alive! Rock on with your bad self!
